Prof. Seema Sharma
Professor & Head
Dr. Seema Sharma is faculty in the area of Economics and Statistical Analysis in the Department of Management Studies at IIT Delhi. Presently, she is the Chairperson of the Economics area in the department.
Her research areas include sustainable development, socio-economic analysis, productivity & efficiency analysis and energy economics. She teaches Business Economics, Macroeconomic Business Environment, Statistical Analysis and Advanced Data Analysis to MBA and Ph. D students. Her research is published in international refereed journals by publishers such as Springer, Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, Emerald and Sage etc. Nationally, her research appeared in journals, among others, like Economic and Political Weekly and; Indian Economic Journal. She has presented her research in many conferences in India and other countries viz., USA, Japan, Australia, Thailand, Indonesia and Czech Republic.
She has been awarded with Outstanding Young Faculty Fellowship Award by IIT Delhi for her contribution to teaching and research. She was conferred with Best Professor in Economics Award by Hindustan Unilever-BSA-Dewang Mehta Business School Award in 2012.
She has been conducting training programmes for researchers from academia and corporate for enhancing their data analytical skills for research in Management. She has also been invited by National Productivity Council (NPC) as a trainer for their training programmes for corporate, administrators and policy makers. She is also invited by All India Radio FM Gold for her perspective on macroeconomic policy analysis.
Most of her consulting work, inter alia, centers on startups enabling them at the entry level as well as devising strategies for their sustainable survival. Apart from consulting assignments, she has done research projects funded by government agencies such as Indian Council for Social Science and Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF), and Khadi and Village Industries (KVIC). She is also working on sustainable development of Rural India under Unnat Bharat Abhyan, an initiative by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
