Dr Rishika Nayyar is an Assistant Professor of Strategy in the Department of Management Studies at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. She holds a PhD in International Business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi. Prior to joining IIT Delhi, she served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Sussex Business School, United Kingdom, for four years, where she also co-convened the Research Mobilizer Group on International Business & Development. She is a holder of the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCertHE) from the University of Sussex. Her prior teaching experience also includes appointments at the FORE School of Management, New Delhi, and the University of Delhi.
Her research examines the internationalisation of emerging market firms, with a particular focus on outward foreign direct investment (FDI) from India, institutional environments, and sub-national influences on multinational enterprise strategy. Her work has been published in leading journals such as Journal of World Business, Management International Review, Journal of International Management, and Journal of Institutional Economics, among others. She has received several prestigious recognitions, including the Alan Rugman Scholarship and nominations for the AIB-UNCTAD Award for Investment and Development. She has presented her research extensively at reputed international conferences including the Academy of International Business (Global, UKI, and South Asia Chapters), the Indian Academy of Management, and the Reading International Business Conference.
Dr Nayyar has taught a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral-level courses in strategy, international business, and international management. She has supervised PhD scholars and MSc dissertations, led curriculum development initiatives, and played key roles in academic administration, including accreditation processes and the organisation of nationally funded academic programmes and conferences. She is deeply committed to innovative pedagogy and mentoring the next generation of management scholars.
