Prof. Sanjay Dhir

Professor Sanjay Dhir, currently holding the position of Area Chair and Associate Professor of Strategic Management within the Department of Management Studies at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), has been duly recognized for his exemplary contributions to academia and research. Notably, he has received two prestigious awards at IIT Delhi: the coveted ‘Teaching Excellence Award’ and the esteemed ‘Mrs. Veena Arora Early Career Research Excellence Award’.

Prof. Dhir’s scholarly pursuits span a diverse spectrum of interests, including Corporate Strategy, Strategic Innovation, Public Health, Strategic Thinking, and Ambidexterity. He boasts a commendable publication record comprising over 100 peer-reviewed research articles indexed in Scopus. Additionally, he has authored six books, notably including ‘Cases in Strategic Management and various research monographs.

Having obtained his Ph.D. from the esteemed Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, Prof. Dhir also assumes the responsibility of Programme Coordinator for the flagship full-time MBA Programme at DMS, IIT Delhi, underscoring his commitment to fostering the development of future business leaders. His dedication to educational excellence has been duly acknowledged through the consecutive conferral of the “InsideIIM Professor of the Year Award” for the years 2020 and 2021.

Beyond his academic endeavors, Prof. Dhir actively engages in advising and contributing to various governmental and international bodies. Noteworthy among his engagements, he has been nominated as an expert for the ‘GNCTD state-level committee on oxygen infrastructure during the COVID-19 pandemic’ by the Delhi Government. Furthermore, he occupies a crucial position on the National Technical Advisory Committee for Oxygen Infrastructure Management, where his expertise is invaluable, particularly during times of crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

He has actively participated in numerous national and international consulting and research initiatives, including but not limited to engagements with prominent organizations such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for the COVID-19 Vaccination Roll Out, B-Medicals (Luxemburg), Empower School of Health, IPE Global, SAMRIDH, PATH, FITT, NABCONS, the Ministry of Skills Development for SANKALP, the Ministry of Human Resource Development for the SPARC project, and the Ministry of Minority Affairs for endeavors such as the Haj Policy and Impact Study of Scholarship Schemes and Waqf Schemes. Additionally, his involvement extends to collaborations with ICSSR as a Visiting Scholar for UNIL, Switzerland, and NRCT, Thailand, as well as contributions to initiatives such as the Bihar Prashashnik Sudhaar Mission (BPSM, Bihar) and the Directorate General of Supplies & Disposals (DGS&D, GoI, New Delhi). Furthermore, he played a pivotal role as a core committee member in the Government of India’s ‘Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan’ project.

Before his academic tenure, Prof. Dhir garnered invaluable industry experience working in the Research and Development Department of Mahindra and Mahindra (Automotive) Limited Corporation. This practical exposure has significantly enriched his perspective and contributed to the real-world applicability of his scholarly work.

His impactful contributions to the field of Strategic Management are evident through his publication record in leading international journals and the publication of his case studies by esteemed institutions such as the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, in collaboration with Harvard Business School. His case is a Bestseller in the category of Strategic Management.

Prof. Dhir’s dedication to advancing scholarly discourse is further exemplified by his roles on the editorial boards of prestigious academic journals and his participation as Track Chair/Invited Panelists in top-tier national and international conferences. His scholarly contributions have garnered global recognition through presentations and publications in renowned conference proceedings, including those of the Academy of Management, Academy of International Business, and Strategic Management Society, among others.
